During discovery, my primary approach as a Manual QA Lead is to embed myself deeply within the product and development teams from the outset. This "shift-left" strategy is crucial for proactive risk identification.

  1. Active Participation in Workshops & Reviews: I attend all kick-offs, requirement gathering sessions, design reviews, and backlog refinement meetings. My role isn't passive; I'm actively listening, asking probing questions, and challenging assumptions in real-time. This involves discussions around user stories, acceptance criteria, wireframes, and proposed technical designs.

  2. Static Analysis of Documentation: I meticulously review all available documentation (PRDs, BRDs, functional specifications, data models, API contracts). I perform deep functional and exploratory analysis without code by mentally tracing user flows, identifying edge cases, potential ambiguities, contradictions, and missing requirements. I look for:

    • Ambiguous/Incomplete Requirements: Are scenarios vague? Are success and failure criteria clearly defined? What about error handling? (Impacts Requirement Coverage)
